Know which programs are used and for how long. · Can now send commands to the client. IP Based: · Fast and easy to implement; you can begin collecting data in minutes. · Doesn’t require a shared network drive. · Records to one, central database (instead of multiple databases on different network drives). · Captures users who don’t login to your company’s Network Operating System. · Less expensive than other IP inventory solutions and most shared drive based solutions. · Any reasonably powerful PC can be used as the server. Gathers WMI
and custom data: · BIOS Serial Number and BIOS Version. · Microsoft Updates that are installed. · Amount of memory in each slot and total memory slots in the system. · Maximum memory the system can handle. · Scans for selected files and extensions and records how many exist. · Can prompt the user for specific information. · OS version, hard disk space, defined users, and more. See the Data Fields page. Other Features
include: · SDK available for creating your own client in Visual Basic 6 or C++. · Can also be run from floppy or network share drive. · Pre-defined reports, which can be used immediately, and which can be modified as per your needs. · Add your own fields to the database (requires your own client or manual entry to fill in). · Each PC has a unique id, (SID), which can be customized. · Maintains a history of each PC, so changes to the system can be viewed. Details: The database program records the data into the Microsoft Access database file. You can go into the database and review and manipulate the results. Some reports are already setup. You can also add your own. The client can be run from a network share, the local hard disk or floppy. It can only run from the floppy drive if the Visual Basic runtime files are installed on the computer (as opposed to being in the same directory) because of the size of the runtime files. See the documentation for more information. The data collected was most requested by IT Desktop support for doing software rollouts, system upgrades and reimaging. This includes the amount of memory in each slot, total number of memory slots, Bios version, and Bios serial number. You can also search for specific files and prompt the client for input to
a question. You quickly know what software and network settings are on the
machine that needs to be recreated, whether they have the capability to run
new software; where systems are, who needs a new one, and how many and what
size memory chips need to be purchased. The IP version automatically records to the database, though you can
record to a file if needed. |
